EDGAR Filing Manual FAQ

What is the EDGAR Filing Manual (EFM)?
The EDGAR Filing Manual is a document published by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The manual generally describes what is required of a submission (such as a 10-K) to the SEC. Included in this manual in Section 6 are a set of XBRL syntax and semantics requirements.
Why do I need an EDGAR Filing Manual Validator?
The XBRL syntax and semantics rules specified in the manual are virtually impossible to enforce manually. While not all of the EFM rules can be codified, an EFM Validator automates as many tests as possible. The alternative is to check the XML by hand. Note that an EFM validator runs thousands and thousands of checks on every submission.
Why should I use XBRL Cloud's EFM Validator?
